Dimapur, Oct. 31. Rua Home, Jorhat, the aspirantate of the Province of Dimapur, celebrated the Silver Jubilee of its establishment on October 29, 2011.
The solemn Jubilee Eucharist was presided over by Rt. Rev. Joseph Aind, Bishop of Dibrugarh, joined by Fr. James Poonthuruthil of Dimapur, Provincial, Fr. C.M. Joseph, Pioneer Rector, an almost 24 priests most of whom had served the institution in various capacities, Sisters, Brothers, Aspirants, Teachers and special invitees.

In his homily, the Bishop said that God's love never fails us even though we sometimes fail Him. He continuously invites us to return to him and experience that love and share the same with others. St. John Bosco was one such man who was called to share God's love and continue it after his death through the congregation, he said. Don Rua, the patron of the house, was the replica of St. John Bosco, who imitated his master in every way. The aspirantate. Therefore, is an important house of formation where the young minds and hearts are moulded and formed to experience and share God's love to the world, because Don Bosco's desire was to give as many priests and religious to the Church and the world to spread the message of God's love, he reminded.

Celebrating the double event - feast of Bl. Michael Rua and the Silver Jubilee - Fr. James Poonthuruthil, Provincial, in his address, lamented over the fact that the greatness of Don Rua was not captured sufficiently, during the two hour long entertainment programme. In the world where individualism being the trend, the example of Don Rua, who played the second fiddle for almost thirty years - doing all the unpleasant things, supporting Don Bosco in every way and projecting him as the father - is very often overlooked, he said.

Canonically erected in June 1986, which earlier served as the aspirantate as well as pre-novitiate has till date produced over 50 priests.
Fr. C.M. Joseph, the pioneer Rector of the institution, in his speech, recalled the beginnings of the institution - the deprivations and inconveniences in spite of which the joy and happiness that reigned among the inmates. Fr. Jose George, an alumnus, and currently, Principal of Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Dibrugarh, shared his experience of his hard and tough days spent in the institution.
