Dimapur, Apr. 30. The eagerly awaited casket containing the holy relic of Saint John Bosco arrived  late afternoon at Imphal Airport on 29 April, 2011. Hundreds of children, past pupils, well wishers and Salesians welcomed the casket containing the relic and brought it ceremoniously accompanied by an exuberant band to the Little Flower School.

A welcome ceremony comprising a splendid display of colourful traditional dances by the school children laid the foundation for the Indian leg of the relic's journey. Fr. James Poonthuruthil, the Provincial of Dimapur expressed his joy and gratitude, stating that Don Bosco was truly in Manipur visiting and blessing each house and all its beneficiaries. He said that the next 25 days would be days filled with grace for the entire province.  The pilgrim journey of the religious casket with the relic of Saint John Bosco will be in Dimapur province beginning 1 May till 24 May 2011.

Following the celebration at Little Flower School, the casket was taken to Don Bosco Langjing where the students, teachers and past pupils paid homage to Don Bosco. The casket was later brought back to Little Flower School, where the children and sisters gathered for a night prayer-vigil around the holy casket. The casket departed for Don Bosco Tamenglong, which is nearly six hours from Imphal, at 5 a.m. The casket is going around amidst great joy and jubilation among the people of Imphal.
