RRC Calls for Responsible Behaviourial Life Style

Dimapur, Feb. 10. DBCMaram 10 Feb 2011: Dr. Loli, District  AIDS Control Officer of Senapati District and  Superintendent of Health, Senapati District inaugurated the Red Ribbon Club  (RRC) in Don Bosco College, Maram (DBCMaram) today during the assembly at 9.00 am. The inaugural function was attended by all the staff and students of the College. By this inauguration DBCMaram has the unique title of being the first Red Ribbon Club in the district of Senapati.
Red Ribbon Club (RRC) is a comprehensive promotional and preventive intervention to en hance voluntary blood donation, STI as well as mainstreaming HIV & AIDS prevention, care and support and treatment impact, mitigation, stigma reduction among the youth in educational institutions. It will also seek to prepare and promote youth peer educators within and outside the campuses.
The programme was organized by Don Bosco College, Maram in collaboration with District AIDS Control and Monitoring Cell, Senapati District. The members of the Red Ribbon Club took up the charge of conducting the inaugural function in a most fitting manner by organizing it well. Dr. Loli who spoke on the implication and objectives of RRC stressed the need to live a responsible life style in today's situation. He opined that God would send dreaded diseases if we do not obey God and his commands. Sr. Arpita SMMI who is the programme coordinator of Red Ribbon Club in the College felicitated Dr. Loli for his availability and interest in the well being of the college students.
The main objectives of RRC are to create accurate and comprehensive information of HIV/AIDS and campus interaction, develop peer educators among the students of the college, youth are encouraged to learn about safe and healthy lifestyles. The RRC promotes access to information on safe sexual behavior and voluntary blood donation as well as enable them to  become agents in HIV/AIDS programme.
