Chennai, Mar. 2. The game of cricket has become a turbulent sport amongst the youngsters all over. This spectacular game has become a vital part of the school curriculum. Needless to mention Don Bosco Matriculation Hr. Sec. School on Casa Major Road had driven into the students the mindset to play the game with much vigour and strength.
Coaching camp comprising of about 65 students trained daily from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. Mr. Shanmugam former District player and presently one of the selectors in the TNCA U-16 category accompanied by Mr. Paul Sagayaraj and Mr. Peter  train our boys. Our Past Pupil and former Tamil Nadu Ranji Team wicket keeper and opener Mr. M. Sanjay has also contributed his might to our team. The benevolence and training enables the boys to be all-rounders. The effort of the Management & co-operation of the parents has evidently paid dividends. The U-14 team set a place for itself to play against various schools from the commencement of the academic year.
A special mention in the game at school level is the glorious DB-MRF Cricket Tournament held under flood lights - the first of its kind in the city schools where DB-Egmore battled many league match to win the trophy in 2009 and 2011. This year 2011 - 2012 DB-Egmore beat Santhome Hr. Sec. School in the finals on January 30, to regain the MRF trophy adding more colour to the profile of the game.
The academic year 2011 - 2012 was multifarious for the team players as they soared to combat for the TNCA Somasundaram Trophy, CB Trophy, SMCA Trophy, DB-MRF Trophy and lifted all the four trophies with pride making DB-Egmore reach the pinnacle with confidence and determined attitude.
Excellent batting from Darryl Ferrario, G.K. Shyam, Anton Andrew and Joy Kenny kept the players and audience still, enjoying the game with nails bitten. The bowling spell from Darryl Ferrario (21 wickets), M. Naveen (13 wickets), T. Ashwin (13 wickets) and Riyansh B. Shah (8 wickets) broke the immunity of the opponents in the matches of the TNCA somasundaram Trophy.
'Practice makes a man perfect'. 'Try hard till you succeed' - with all these valuable quotes registered in the minds of the boys - the curricular and extracurricular training with effort, concentration blended with discipline, has helped the team retain its name in the history of the school.
'Long Live Don Bosco and Don Bosco Egmore.'
