Chennai, Oct. 25. The three Don Bosco institutions in Karaikal region - including Don Bosco High School, Nedungadu, the last new presence in Chennai Province - were honoured to receive the Don Bosco Relic on 21st October 2011.
The arrival of the relic casket of Don Bosco in Karaikal region (Nedungadu, Thamanangudy, Thennangudy) was  memorable culminating in the concelebrated Holy Eucharist  followed by public veneration at Nirmala Ranee Campus, Karaikal.
The Salesians, staff members, parishioners, lay collaborators, well-wishers, beneficiaries and people of other faiths were enthused by the arrival of the relic of the Father and Friend of Youth.  After the public veneration at our Lady's Shrine, Velankanni, the casket was brought to Karaikal and reached Don Bosco High School, Nedungadu, where it was welcomed and received by Rev. Fr. ArulRaja, the Rector, Fr. Paulraj Maniam, the Headmaster, staff members, students and people from the locality. As the choir echoed the praises of Don Bosco, everyone gathered had the opportunity to come around the casket to pay their homage and receive the blessings of the saint.
Then the casket made its way to Don Bosco College, Thamanangudy, where it was received by the Salesians, teaching faculty, student teachers, and well-wishers with great joy, lots of cheer and affection.  As the Salesians took the casket in procession to the place of the veneration, the students showered flower petals, waved flags and raised slogans ''Long Live Don Bosco!''.  After a short prayer service, the staff, students and other people had the privilege of praying before of the relic casket personally. It was a devout ambient as the gathering passed by the casket accompanied by the choir singing hymns.
Bidding farewell to the Father, the casket was shifted to Sacred Heart Church, Thennangudy and was received by Rev. Fr. Jesudas, Fr. Jerome and the parishioners.  A short prayer service around the casket concluded with the blessings of Mary Help of Christians by Rev. Fr. Jesudas.  From here the casket was taken to Karaikal for the final phase of the celebration.
A long motorcade from Thennangudy to Karaikal by Don Bosco Youth from Karaikal parish accompanied the casket.  As the relic casket reached the entrance of Nirmala Ranee Campus, it was welcomed by colourful fireworks, slogans and thunderous clap by the faithful.  Rev. Fr. Alphonse, the Vicar Forane and Parish Priest of Karaikal presided over the concelebrated Holy Eucharist and Rev. Fr. Paulraj Maniam preached an inspiring homily with a special message to the youth.  As the Holy Eucharist concluded, people lined up to pay homage and seek the special blessings of the saint.  It was a huge gathering of people from the entire Vicariate of Karaikal comprising five parishes and people of other faiths (Hindus, Muslims) from Karaikal town.  The entire campus was alive and prayerful as the crowd moved slowly to have a glimpse of the relic.  The historical evening came to a close at 9.00pm as the casket was surrounded by Karaikal-Don Bosco Youth and accompanied to the vehicle with cheerful slogans to be taken to Don Bosco, Tharangam.
