Shillong, Oct. 27. Shillong: Lum Sinai Umden Parish celebrated Parish Day today the 27th October in the Parish premises. The celebrations begun with the Holy Mass celebrated by Father Peter Syiemlieh, the Parish Priest and concelebrated by Fathers MC Thomas, Artimius Myrthong and Joachim Ekka, in the presence of Shri Mayral Born Syiem, the local MLA amidst thousands of parishioners who came from different villages within the Parish.
In his homily, the Parish Priest spoke about the need to unite as one family and 'unity is possible only when there is humility' he said as he referred his homily from the Gospel of the day. ''Humility is not thinking less of yourself but thinking of yourself less'' C S Lewis.

To live in unity, believers must be ''like-minded'' by practicing harmony, humility and helpfulness. ... Living in humility does not mean making ourselves a doormat for everyone else, it simply means the ability to resist considering our own desires and opinions as paramount. Isn't it funny how we let the small and non-essential things divide us? This Christian faith has been splintered into so many camps that we tend to focus on what makes our brand of Christianity distinct. The truth is that the foundation of our faith isn't what make us different from other Christians, it's what we all have in common. That is, the gospel, or good news of Jesus Christ. We must have humility to maintain the unity needed to advance the gospel.

In the afternoon, there was the Adoration and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament, which was followed by a cultural programme. Health and Family Welfare Minister of the Government of Meghalaya, Shri AL Hek was the chief guest of the programme.
