Shillong, Oct. 30. Shillong 29 October: The Rector Major, accompanied by a number of Salesians arrived at Sacred Heart Theological College at 6:30 am. The Community members of SHTC welcomed him with a song and bouquet of flowers.
After a welcome speech by the Rector of Sacred Heart Theological College, Father Philip Barjo, the Rector Major presided over the Holy Eucharist. In his homily the Rector Major exhorted the Salesians specially the students of Theology to 'be formed after the heart of Don Bosco'. The Congregation needs true and genuine Salesians like Don Rua whose Feast Day occurred on this day insisted the head of the congregation. He warned the religious against the evil of serving two Masters, reflecting on the day's Gospel and also against exercising one's authority arbitrarily. Taking the lives of Jesus, Don Bosco and Pope Francis of our day, their life proved just the opposite.

Today, young people want to see 'tenderness' in the Salesians and religious. They want to see through the Salesians the 'tenderness' of God comes alive to them. They want us to listen to them. That calls for our responsibility to be Salesians everywhere at every moment just as Don Bosco was a priest in all moments for his boys. He concluded by saying that our formation needs to be at the level of the heart and not just at the head level. The Mass carried on in prayerful aura.

At 8:45 am the Rector Major visited Don Bosco Museum (DBCIC) and also inaugurated the website of the Museum and the Art Gallery. The staff of the Museum welcomed him with a beautiful traditional Khasi song. He then paid a short visit to some galleries in the museum.
