Arnes Sohshang sdb and Kenny Nongrum sdb ordianed priests

Shillong, Dec. 30. Shillong: Archbishop Dominic Jala sdb, ordained two Salesian Deacons Arnes Sohshang sdb and Kenny Nongrum sdb for the Salesian Province of Shillong, together with Deacon Albert Lyngkhoi of Nonstoin Diocese and Johnvinsen Lyngdoh ofm at a prayerful liturgical celebration held today the 30th December at the ground of St. Peter's Cathedral Nongstoin amidst 70 other priests, hundreds of religious brothers and sisters witnessed by over 20 thousand faithful from all over the three dioceses of Nongstoin, Shillong and Jowai.
The rite of Ordination begun with the presentation of the deacons by Father Wilbert Marwein, the Vicar General of Nongstoin Diocese requesting the Archbishop to ordain the deacons to the order of presbyterate.

The Archbishop while accepting the deacons, in his homily, he advised them to be like Jesus who came from a poor family and be Jesus to other families. He reminded the congregation about the importance of the family in accompanying their children towards becoming followers of Jesus. The archbishop said 'remember your roots -  your family, do not be ashamed of your roots - or you will not be blessed. God's ways is not the world's ways of looking at our family' while thanking the parents of the four deacons for offering their sons to the church. The Archbishop also invited the priests and religious to visit more families and become Jesus to the families visited. After the homily, the deacons were ordained priests through several prayers of consecration and laying of hands by the archbishop who by the power bestowed on him besought the Holy Spirit while the faithful accompanied him in singing hymns and prayers.

The rite of the Ordination ended with a solemn Eucharistic Celebration celebrated by the Archbishop and concelebrated by the four new priests, Father Wilbert Marwein the VG of Nongstoin Diocese, Father Paul O Lyngkot SDB, the Salesian Provincial of Shillong Province, Father Reinhard Gesing SDB, the Salesian Provincial of Germany, Father Francesco SDB, the Provincial Delegate of Italy Province and 67 other priests.

It may be mention here that Father Arnes Sohshang who is from Sonapahar Parish and is currently in Germany for his studies will return to Germany for his priestly ministry and for his studies, while Father Kenny Nongrum who is from Pyndengrei Parish and currently in Italy for his studies will also go back to Italy for his ministry. While Father Albert from Rangblang Parish will be assign as Assistant Parish Priest in Mairang Parish and Capuchin Father Johnvinsen OFM will be assign in Bangalore for his priestly ministry.
