Shillong, Aug. 31. Shillong, 31 August: Fifty-seven members of the Salesian Family (SDB, FMA, MSMMHC, VSDB and the Association of Salesian Cooperators) gathered at Pastoral centre, Shillong 29th to 30th August 2018 to study and reflect on ways of reigniting the Missionary spirit in the region.
Archbishop Thomas Menamparampil SDB, his keynote address, stressed in his inimitable style for an apostolate of friendship to bring the Gospel values into every culture and milieu. ''Respond in faith to the vocation to be 'Out of Season Missionaries''' was the call by Father TC George SDB, the South Asia delegate for Missionary Animation.

Archbishop Dominic Jala SDB, of Shillong, called upon the gathering to focus on the families and youth that need the light of Christ to bring peace and harmony in their lives. ''The mission is entrusted to the Community and individualism has no place in it'' was the powerful message by the Canon Lawyer, Father Manoj Churuliyil SDB. Sister Philomena Mathew, the Superior General of the MSMHC called upon the Salesian Family to bubble with enthusiasm and to be  consumed by the fire of the passion for Christ and His people. ''Every school or institution must become a place where the students experience the love of the Lord'' said Sister Maristella Ryngkhlem FMA.

Father Jose Anikuzhikatil SDB elucidated the many challenges faced by the evangelizer in today's world. Through the Word of God and reflection, Father Johny Eapen SDB shared his passion for the proclamation of the Word.

The presence of Father Paul Olphindro Lyngkot the Salesian provincial of Shillong and Sister Philomena Mathew, the Mother General of the MSMHC throughout the two days, was encouraging and the enthusiasm exhibited by the other superiors of the Congregations of the Salesian family, created an astonishing sense of purpose.

Father Joseph Palamthattel (Sunny), the Delegate of the Evangelization Commission expressed his thanks to God Almighty and to everyone for the great cooperation and commitment. He expressed the hope that through the renewed enthusiasm of the Salesian family, the love of the Lord may reach every person and transform society.
