Enthralling 'Exhibition 2016' at Don Bosco School Silchar

Shillong, Aug. 11. The 2016 edition of the Annual Exhibition of Don Bosco School, Silchar was held in the school premises from 5th - 8th August 2016. The exhibits comprised of creations from Science, Social Science, Environmental Studies and Art & Craft streams. Lt. Col. Prashant Kumar, the Commanding Officer of 74 Field Regiment was the Chief Guest and Father Joe Francis from the diocese of Aizawl, the Guest of Honor at the inaugural ceremony.
In the science exhibition, 198 students took part and prepared 66 models. The theme of the science exhibition was 'Science in everyday life' for the juniors and 'Latest inventions in Science and Technology' for the seniors. The judges for the science exhibition were Mr. Jayashish Mazumder, the Director of Aryan Junior College and Mr. Gautam Gope, a Senior Technical Assistant in Central Instrumentation Laboratory, Assam University. The social Science exhibition comprising of 60 models which depicted the Age of Early Men, Great wall of China, Theory of Continental Drift, etc. Dr. Manidhar Singha, the Head of the Department of History, S.S College, Hailakandi and Dr. Saugata Nath, an Assistant Professor, Department of English, Assam University were the judges for the Social studies exhibition.

The students of classes III to V presented the Environmental Studies Exhibition. Their models including system level measurer, Evaporation, Digestive System of Human Beings, etc. The Judges were Mrs. Prantika Debashish Chatterjee, the Ex. HOD, Department of EVS, APS School, Amritsar and Dr. Sagarika Mohanta, a Lecturer of Biotechnology, G.C College, Silchar. In the Art & Craft section, in which 184 students from classes III to XI took part different waste materials were used to prepare some unique exhibits. The judges for the exhibition were Mr. Gautam Dutta, an Associate Professor, Department of Visual Arts, Assam University and Mr. Sumit Roy, the Principal, Indian Institute of Fine Arts.

The Power Point presentations projected the Incredible India, Fifth generation computers, Mysteries of the World, Drones, etc. The judging was done by Prof. Ajoy Roy, an Associate Professor, Department of Physics, Cachar College, Silchar and Mrs. Sreeti Paul, an Associate Professor, Department of Political Science, Cachar College, Silchar. The live gallery that brought alive the Mumbai Attack of 2008 exhorted all to work towards Peace and Non-Violence.
 
The Exhibition proved to be a wonderful platform for the students to exhibit their innate talents by preparing some extraordinary exhibits. Numerous guests who visited the Exhibition said they felt extremely happy with the performance of the students and staff.
