Shillong, Aug. 11. A 9-day long Summer Study Camp was conducted for the Evening School students of Don Bosco Silchar from 1st July to 9th July 2016. Over 350 boys and girls ranging from classes I to Class X took part in the Camp.
Apart from the Coaching classes on core subjects like Science, Mathematics and English the students were kept engaged for more than four hours with various activities like Dance, Music, Fine Art, Martial Art, games and party songs.

They were also visited by leading bankers and social activists who encouraged them to dream of an economically secure, happy and meaningful life by making the best use of the opportunities that come their way. The Camp concluded on 9th July with a colourful variety show organized by the campers in the school auditorium. For the youngsters it was an enriching experience and a useful way of spending the holidays. And for us Salesians it gave tremendous satisfaction that all our facilities and resources were fully made use by these youngsters who really deserve them.

Don Bosco Silchar has been reaching out to the youngsters of Barak Valley through Don Bosco Higher Secondry School, which has a strength of over 2100 students and Boscotech which is a non - formal technical school that takes up short term job oriented training programmes for the youth from economically backward families.

The evening classes are an additional service rendered by the institution for the students from economically backward families of the neighbourhood since 2006. As of now we have over 300 students who regularly come to our school in the evenings to get additional help in the core subjects and also get trained in martial arts, fine arts, dance and music.
