Shillong, Jul. 20. Shillong: Twenty five junior priests of Silchar and Guwahati Provinces underwent a four day training in Youth Ministry at Pastoral Centre in Shillong, 16-19 July, under the tutelage of Father Glendford Lowe sdb, a popular youth minister from Mumbai and the Youth Ministry Delegate of Mumbai Province.
The Meeting which was convened by Father Olphindro Lyngkot, the Vice Provincial of Silchar Province on the 16th July evening ended on 19th July evening with the exhortation and fatherly advice of Father George Maliekal, the Provincial of Silchar Province.

'Becoming Passionate about our identity as Youth Ministers, Getting motivated, Knowing how to DO youth ministry, Changing oneself from leaderSHIP to leaderSHIFT, Being and becoming inspirer, Qualitative change for quantitative change, etc...'' were few of the takeaways from the program as mentioned by the participants.

Father Glenford besides delving into the theoretical frame work of youth ministry, also taught the participants numerous skills on how to DO youth ministry in the Salesian way. 'The way father Glen summarised the Framework of Salesian Youth Ministry book in 8 charts was amazing... I never knew the book is so up-to-date'' said Father Gilbert Bhoi as he adviced his companions to read the book about the Framework for Youth Ministry.

''I got fully charged these three days, as father Glen shared his life's story and told us how we should become resourceful in our youth work'' said father Gabriel Jalong as he moved from one room to another collecting animation materials from his companions. ''These skills that Father Glen gave us are a sure to become shepherds that have the smell of the pointed by Pope Francis and as reminded by Father George Maliekal in his homily,'' said another junior priest father Jimmy Sangma of Guwahati Province.

The junior priests returned to their communities eager to employ their new found skills in the stations of their ministry.
