Photography Exhibition and Competition inaugurated

Shillong, Oct. 8. A photography exhibition cum competition was inaugurated at Don Bosco Technical School, Shillong on Tuesday, 7 October. The three-day exhibition, open to all, was based on the theme 'Shillong'. The objective of the exhibition is to encourage photography enthusiasts,  promote good photography and to provide them with an avenue to display their talents.
The exhibition attracted 52 photographers of various age groups, some of whom were students of the hosting institution.

The chief guest for the event was the former HOD, Mass Media Department of St. Anthony's College Fr. D. John Jayakumar,  Well known singer and musician from Shillong Lou Majaw was present at the occasion as a guest of honor. Congratulating the participants Fr. Jayakumar encouraged them to continue ''capturing the uniqueness of the land''.

The 150 photographs put up for the competition drew admiration from the visitors and students alike. The Exhibition was inaugurated with a music performance by the students of Don Bosco Technical School.

Cash prizes of Rs.10, 000, Rs.7,000 and Rs.5,000 were given out to the three best competitors  Mudong Sira, Nobojit Dey and Josiah Lyngwa, respectively.

The management of Don Bosco Technical School is introducing short term courses in photography for a period of four weeks, registration for which has already begun.

The exhibition will remain open for visitors till Oct 9.
