Shillong, Sep. 4. In an effort to combine the ongoing Bicentennial celebrations of Don Bosco with socially and educationally valuable ventures, Don Bosco School Agartala organized a Tree Planting session by its students on 1st Sept 2014.
Archbishop Dominic Jala of Shillong, the guest of honour at the tree planting session, spoke briefly on the bicentenary celebrations happening all across the Salesian world and also on the innovative activity they had taken up as part of these celebrations. While congratulating the school, its principal, Fr. Benny Mushahary and the students, the Archbishop urged the students to be actively involved in spreading environment awareness in the society. 'Planting trees' he said 'is one of the greatest services we can render to those that come after us'. It is an activity that 'should not be confined to the school merely' but made a part of 'every sphere of life'.

Other dignitaries who joined the students in planting trees included Fr. George Maliekal, Salesian Provincial of Silchar Province, Fr. Sunny, Rector of the institution, Fr. Benny Mushahary, the Principal and Deac. Gabriel Colney, the Vice Principal of Don Bosco School.
