Indus Valley comes alive at Don Bosco School Silchar!

Students of Don Bosco School Silchar recreate a scene from Indus Valley Civilization at the science exhibition recently held there.

Shillong, Sep. 2. Indus Valley civilization and many other such marvels of the ancient and modern world came alive at Don Bosco School Silchar on 29th and 30th August 2014. The Science and Social Science Exhibition held at the school those days was ample proof of the students' extraordinary ability to combine scientific temper with the spirit of innovation. Shri Somit Srivastava, the Deputy Commissioner, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, Silchar Region, who inaugurated the exhibition as the Chief Guest congratulated the efforts of the budding scientists, and engineers of Don Bosco School.

The students proudly displayed the impressive artifacts they made with mind-boggling finesse and perfection to those who visited the exhibition and through them conveyed awareness on ecology, pollution, evolution of history, environment conservation and the like. The exhibition touched upon numerous themes related to society and science. Mr. Srivastava, who went round the exhibition and keenly listened to the presentations of eager students standing beside their creations said he had no doubt, such ventures would immensely help to create in the students a scientific attitude and the spirit of innovation.

The exhibition in which over 200 students from classes VI - XII actively participated started with a brief cultural programme. The main attractions of the exhibition were the live presentations of the Indus Valley Civilization and Bio-diversity Galleries. Other subjects highlighted at the exhibition included, dynamics of sound effects, magnetism, save nature, disaster management, role of media etc. With the presence of the parents of the students and visiting students from neighboring schools, there prevailed a festive atmosphere in the school. Memories of the exhibition, one felt, would linger on in the young minds for months to come.
