Shillong, Feb. 17. Archbishop Dominic Jala of Shillong ordained Deacon Bivan Rodrigues Mukhim of the Salesian province of Guwahati a priest of God on 16th February 2014 at St. Dominic Savio Church, Mawlai, Shillong at a Eucharistic celebration concelebrated by 85 priests and attended by thousands of faithful.
Deacon Bivan's ordination to priesthood became a high point in the ongoing yearlong Platinum Jubilee celebrations of Mawlai parish.

In his vote of thanks, the new Priest voicing his gratitude to God for the gift of the Priestly Vocation affirmed that he is a priest today because of the graciousness of the God of impossibilities who translates impossibilities into possibilities. He recalled with a sense of gratitude all who were instrumental in his reaching the altar. The emotional content of Fr. Bivan's thanksgiving speech was evident in the spontaneous tears that trickled down the cheeks both of the speaker and the hearers.

Fr. V. M. Thomas, the provincial of the Salesian province of Guwahati announced that Fr. Bivan Mukhim was appointed the Assistant Director of Don Bosco Institute, Kharguli and also Director of Social Communications, province of Guwahati. The Holy Mass concluded with the solemn blessing by the new priest and an Instrumental piece rendered soulful by the Savio Band of Savio Juniorate.
