Three Week long Vocation Camp held at Savio Juniorate Mawlai Shillong, Jan. 28. The Annual Vocation Camp for those who aspire to join the Salesian way of life past Class VIII was held at Savio Juniorate, Mawlai, 27th December 2013 to 18th January 2014. A group of 63 robust and enthusiastic boys attended the three-week camp. Fr. Paul Olphindro Lyngkot, the Vocation Promoter, along with five clerics - Leeborki, Maitphang, Daniel Dabitlang, Silvanus and Sawlus - navigated the camp to fruition.
The camp was designed in such a way that those who attended it would get a foretaste of 'Juniorate life'. From dawn to dusk the boys were kept occupied with various activities geared towards a better understanding and discernment of their vocation. Praying and learning to pray, especially in English, were given utmost priority. There were certain hours of the day set aside for classes in elocution, vocabulary, dictation and related subjects. Manual work and games were also given importance. A variety of competitions were conducted between various groups in order to sieve-out leaders and bring forth the best from the participants. In line with Salesian traditions, outings and family get-together were organized at regular intervals. Few days before the camp came to its close, Fr James Thyrniang animated and prepared the boys for the reception of the sacrament of Reconciliation.
