Shillong, Sep. 22. As Catholics all over the world celebrate and thank God for the gift of Faith, Sacred Heart Theological College, Mawlai, Shillong organised a Seminar entitled: 'Creating and Sustaining Conditions for Proclaiming and Living the Faith'. The seminar was held from 19th to 21st of September, 2013. The seminar was part of the Platinum Jubilee Celebrations of the College. There were 215 participants.
During the solemn Inaugural Function, the Chief Guest, Archbishop Dominic Jala SDB DD, said that every step taken in the past had brought about far-reaching transformation today; therefore, there is a need to continue to help people to find fulfillment through their faith in God.

In his Keynote Address, Fr. (Dr.) George Maliekal SDB focused and elaborated on 'A Globalised Culture and Its Implications for Proclaiming and Living Faith'. Concluding his speech, Fr. Maliekal says, ''The opportunities (offered by globalisation) are the 'wheels of modernisation; the challenge is: 'to awaken the nostalgia for God' in human hearts...''

Archbishop Thomas Menamparampil SDB, DD, the Archbishop emeritus of Guwahati, also enlightened the participants on the practical aspects in creating and sustaining conditions for proclaiming and living the Christian faith.

The seminar was enriched by several scholarly paper presentations based on the Scriptural, Missiological, Tribal, Multi-religious, Laity, Indian Youth and Feminine perspectives. The erudite speakers who were also experts in their respective fields elaborated their topics on the theme of the seminar. The floor discussions and the panel discussions contributed much in understanding the theme at the conceptual as well as the practical aspects.

The blend of all these topics has definitely provided the participants with a synthetic understanding on the how to create and sustain the conditions for proclaiming and living the faith they received.
