Panjim, Dec. 18. Father Jason Pinto, SDB, from The Salesian Province of Panjim was ordained to the priesthood on 17, December  by his Grace Rev Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo at Our Lady of Miracles, Kallianpur in Udupi, Karnataka, India

The entrance of the Cathedral building of Our Lady of Miracles, Kallianpur which is under renovation failed to dampen the high spirit of festivity and the serene prayerful and recollected moments of the faithful gathered on the warm morning of 17 December as the young Deacon Jason Pinto walked up to the altar accompanied by his parents to be ordained a priest of God.  With the motto ''The Lord is my Shepherd,'' Father Jason Pinto was ordained a priest by his Grace Rev Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, Bishop of Udupi, in the presence of 25 priests, religious, benefactors, family and friends, at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Miracles, Kallianpur in Udupi.

Bishop Isaac Lobo instructing Father Jason in his homily stressed on three aspects of ordination namely, the priest is a man of God set aside for Him alone.  Secondly, it is God who calls and commissions and finally God communicates in and through prayer.  Siting the examples of Abraham, Moses and Jesus himself the Bishop called on Fr Jason to surrender himself totally to the will of God so that he will be an effective witness of God's plan to the faithful and especially the young.

Speaking on the occasion Provincial of Panjim Salesian Province Father Ian Figueiredo said, the Salesian province of Panjim is indeed grateful to the parents of Fr Jason, Mr Joseph and Mrs Helen Pinto for giving their only son to service the Lord in His vineyard.  He thanked his priest uncle Father Reginald Pinto and the other family members for their support and assistance during the formation years of Father Jason and in a special way for organizing the ordination.

In his simple and unpresuming style Father Jason thanked the bishop, his parents and the members of the parish for their love and support on his journey to priesthood.

Vice Provincial of Panjim Province Father Paul D'Souza, Former Provincial of New Delhi Father Charles Lobo, Rector of Milagres Cathedral Father Stany Lobo, and Parish Priest of Udyavar Parish Father Roque D'Souza were also present on the occasion.
