Panjim, Dec. 18. The tiny picturesque village of Allanki, Karwar-Karnataka was in a celebration mood on 17 December 2014 . The road was decorated. People were welcoming the guests. The Church of Holy Spirit overlooking the village was resounding with divine music waiting for the 'chosen one' to arrive - deacon Patrick Dias SDB, soon to be ordained a Salesian Priest by Bishop Derek Fernandes, the bishop of Karwar.
Welcomed by the playing of the band, Deacon Dias arrived with the Bishop. They were joined by number of diocesan and Salesian priests and brothers, and sisters. The whole village with their relatives, friends and well-wishers were present to witness the Priestly Ordination ceremony.

On the backdrop of the Pandal was written his motto in big lettters: 'To be with Him...to be sent out' (Mk 3, 14). The bishop's advice to the newly ordained was to be constantly in touch with Lord, to be fruitful in His priestly ministry.

Mrs. Philomena Dias, mother of Fr. Patrick, his brothers and their families were privileged to receive the Holy Communion from the anointed hands of the newly ordained priest. After the ordination ceremony, people kissed his hands, took his blessings and prayed for him and his ministry.

During the felicitation ceremony, Fr Santaremend Lopes, Parish Priest of St John Bosco Church, Kelmbet where Fr Patrick was working from this year, elaborately introduced him to the crowd. Fr Ian Figueiredo, Provincial of the Province of Panjim, officially welcomed Fr Patrick Dias into the Province as a Salesian priest. He thanked his parents and congratulated the family for offering their son to serve in the vineyard of the Lord.

Fr David Pinto, Parish Priest of the Church of Holy Spirit assured him the prayers of the community for carrying out his Salesian priestly ministry.

Fr Patrick thanked Fr. Michael Mascarenhas, his vocation promoter, his formators, rectors, spiritual directors and all present for their support and love.

The newly ordained is available by email , and by cell phone +91 9480626265.
