Panjim, Oct. 7. The Salesian Province of Panjim organized a 'Parents' Day' for the parents and family members of Salesians on 5 October, at Don Bosco Youth Welfare Centre, Parra, Goa, as part of the bicentenary celebrations of the birth of Don Bosco. Parents and family members of Salesians working in the Mumbai Province were also invited for the celebration.
Three buses and many private vehicles carrying enthusiastic parents, accompanied by the Salesians, arrived from different parts of Goa on 5th October morning. After the initial 'hellos' and 'welcomes' the Provincial Fr. Ian Figueiredo celebrated the Holy Eucharist with them. In his homily, Fr. Ian expounded on the theme of parenthood with special emphasis on the parenthood of Joseph and Mary, the parents of Jesus, and that of Mamma Margaret, the mother of Don Bosco. He thanked the parents for the generous gift of their sons to work in the Vineyard of the Lord.
