Salesains of Panjim hold Art Exhibition for a social cause

Panjim, Dec. 7. An art exhibition cum sale entitled 'Different Strokes' by a group of professional and semi-professional artists, who call themselves 'artist's with a cause' was inaugurated by Mr Surendra Furtado, Mayor of the City of Panjim, Goa, in the presence of Fr Paul D'Souza, Vice provincial, Fr Allwyn D'Souza, Provincial Economer and the artists themselves on 7th December 2013, at the Central Library Hall, Panjim, Goa. The purpose of the exhibition and sale is to raise funds for Don Bosco Charities in the Salesian Province of Panjim. The art works will be on display till the 9th.
Within just 2 hours of the opening of the exhibition, 8 paintings were sold. Ten artists have come together for this venture which is aimed at raising funds for Don Bosco Charities in the Salesian Province of Panjim. The proceeds from the sale will be used for the education of children and youth from a rural or semi-rural background. The artists who have teamed up for the event are: Pearl D'Souza, Shamina Pereira, Elizabeth Pereira, Marissa Andrews, Denali Dias, Marie-Lou Alemao, Dr Anil Vithalrao Morajkar, Dr Aparna Pradhan, Fr Royston D'Souza, sdb and Rubina D'Souza.

The motto of this group of artists is 'Sikhna and Sikhana', that is, to learn and to teach.  Many of these artists are learning under the renowned artist Mr Wilson D'Souza, Director of Pyde Pyper Academy, Caranzalem, Goa.  Artist's passion, inspiration and spirituality are seen in their amazing varieties of intricate works with pen and ink, paint brush, water colours and mixed media. There are 108 paintings on display.  A majority of them have come from nature and Goa loving Rubina D'Souza.
