TV Channel 'dbtv' Launched by Salesians of Panjim

Panjim, Dec. 5. Don Bosco College, Panaji launched its educational TV channel 'dbtv' on Thursday, December 5, 2013 at the Terrace Hall. Fr. Ian Figueiredo, Salesian Provincial of the Panjim Province launched the channel.  Fr. Wilfred Fernandes, Manager DBC and Dr. Mrs. Marie Raj, Principal, DBC Panaji were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Fr. Ian said that the channel was an extension of Don Bosco's principles. ''If in the past Don Bosco used the communication tools of speaking and writing, as well as theatre to get across to his students, today we have the privilege of the TV channel as a source of communication,'' he pointed out before he launched the broadcast channel.  

Fr. Wilfred congratulated the core dbtv team for their efforts and urged students to make the best of the available opportunities.

The channel is available on no. 84 of the cable TV network.  It did a live telecast of a documentary on the life of Don Bosco followed by a program on astronomy and science by the mass media students.

The 'dbtv' core team comprises Mr. Shamir Diniz, creative head, Mr. Seby D'Souza, technical head, Mr. Sandesh Dhargalkar, Video journalist and Ms. Afiza Viegas, PR assistant.

Lorraine Fernandes, faculty, dept of mass media hosted the programme and Ms. Janhavi Savaikar, Faculty mass media, gave the vote of thanks.
