Don Bosco Action India meet in Panjim for Annual General Assembly

Panjim, Nov. 26. The Annual General Meeting of Don Bosco Action India (DBAI) was inaugurated on 26th November at ''Caritas'' Goa,  2013. DBAI is a national  network for social development spread across India with its regional headquarters in 11 states of the country. The meeting will conclude on 27th Novemebr.
The programme began at 9.25am with the lighting of the lamp by the chief delegates. Don Bosco Action India, through its network, executes a number of community development programmes targeting vulnerable children, poor and destitute women and underprivileged youth, towards their educational, economic and social empowerment.

Twenty five members, including the Provincial Economers and Executive Directors from 11 Salesian Provinces and SPCSA Delegates will participate in the two day annual planning meet. Fr. Albert Johnson, Regional Delegate of Tiruchi Province and Fr. Thamburaj, Executive Secretary DBAI INT Tiruchy are also present for the meeting.

Mr. Danny Van de Pute, India Desk, and Mr. Jochim, EU, both of whom are from VIA Don Bosco, Brussels, were the Chief Guests on the first day.

Mr. Balchandran, Deputy General Manager, NABARD; Ms. Biju Naik , Assistant Director of Industries, trade & Commerce, Govt. of Goa and Mr. Manguirish Pai Raiker, Ex - President, GCCI, were the resource persons who enlightened the participants about micro - finance and rural development programs, schemes for women and child empowerment and methods to achieve optimum results from CSR opportunities.

In the evening the delegates celebrated the solemn Eucharist at the Basilica of Bom Jesu, Old Goa, where the novenas for the feast of St Francis Xavier are being devoutly celebrated.

The Eucharist specially dedicated to the Salesians, was an opportunity for them to rally around the great missionary Saint, in order to be able to carry on the developmental tasks in the various regions of the country.
