Faculty Development workshop at DBCE, Goa

Panjim, Oct. 30. The Placement and counseling Cell of Don Bosco college of Engineering Organized a One-Day Faculty Development Workshop on 20th July 2013. It was conducted by Dr. B. N. Shanthapriya, ex-Principal of Shree Rayeshwar Institute of Engineering and Information Technology, Shiroda, Goa and Mr. Hilary D'Souza CEO of Mercury Pharma, Goa.
In his welcome address Fr.Kinley D'Cruz emphasized on the need of organizing faculty development workshops at regular intervals to meet up to the challenges of engineering education today. He further opined that the Salesian Society of Don Bosco is striving  hard to maintain quality standards in education and most importantly imparting a value based education system to create humane members of society.

Dr. C.S.Gokhale in his address encourage the faculty members to constantly upgrade their skills as learning is a continuous process in the life of a teacher, and to strive hard in igniting a curiosity in the mind of students.

Dr. B. N. Shanthpriya in his interactive  sessions  elaborated on  the role of a teacher, he suggested that a teacher must himself be disciplined and be physically, mentally and emotionally balanced, only then would a teacher be able to do justice to the noble profession of teaching. Engineering education, he believed,  has come a long way and we have to adopt and adapt to  new technology, innovative teaching methodology and use the 'best practices' in teaching. He reveled that we are  given the holy vocation  of creating members for tomorrows workforce and emphasized on imparting strong technical knowledge, soft skills and character building in the students.

Mr. Hilary while conducting Interpersonal-Relationships and Conflict Management sessions explained that every individual is unique and has a unique perception which at time results in conflict. He opined that in a crisis situation it is essential to communicate and resolve the conflict. He encouraged the faculty members to use third party intervention such as, mediation and  consultation, which could help resolve conflicts and result in better inter-personal relationships and a smooth professional functioning of the organization.
