Panjim, Jun. 20. The commission for Schools and Colleges held their annual meeting at Don Bosco Trasi, Udupi Dt., on 18th June 2013. The meeting led by Fr Anand Noronha was attended by most of the principals from the province.

The incessant rains on the way could not dampen the spirits of the Principals of the province of Panjim, who began their meeting with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist on 18th June. ''We need to learn daily from Jesus, the great teacher,'' Fr Paul D'Souza, Vice Provincial and the main celebrant, pointed out.

While taking a session on ''Effective Leadership,'' Fr Paul was of the opinion that along with the vision and the plan for its execution, the principals must also have the traits of visibility, trustworthiness, ability to involve others, develop their skills and overall a sense of humour.

Fr Dominic  Savio Fernandes brought to the fore the world wide innovations in education. These innovations reminded the participants of what Don Bosco used to tell his Salesians about keeping the young at the heart of the educative system and that the various difficulties that the teachers and the management would have to face should not deter their endeavours.

After drawing up a common province level vision statement for this commission with the help of the notes from Fr Albano Fernandes, the discussion moved on to getting our educational institutions, ISO certified. It was decided that the topic would be taken up for further study at a later time.

The commission also planned various activities, update seminars and meetings for this academic year for the staff and the students. There was also a sharing of effective methods tried out at different schools and colleges.

The commission also resolved to promote upgrading of all the Kindergartens for the most effective and enjoyable learning experience of the children.
