Panjim, May. 28. The Perpetual Profession of three clerics of the Panjim Province was solemnized on 24th May 2013 at St. John Bosco Church, Sirsi, Karnataka. The solemn function was held at 11.00 A.M. with the participation of a host of salesians, and parents, siblings and other relatives of those professing, as well as the parishioners of Sirsi.
Cl. Roshan D'Souza, Cl. Milton Fernandes and Cl. Sandesh Fernandes committed themselves to the Lord for life during the Solemn Eucharist of the Solemnity of Mary Help of Christians, presided over by Fr. Ian Figueiredo, the Provincial and other Salesian Priests and two diocesan clergy.  In his homily, referring to Jesus' question  to Peter ''Do you love me?'', Fr. Figueiredo highlighted the importance of making such a lofty commitment only if one truly loves the Lord.  ''Otherwise'', he said, ''there is every danger that one remains in the Congregation not for the Lord's mission, but for career opportunities.''

In his thanksgiving speech, Cl. Roshan acknowledged the spiritual and every other help they had received, through the past six years, from the salesian communities and from their own parents.  He also praised the salesian confreres, Fr. Felix Serrao and Fr. Avin Carvalho, and the parishioners of the Sirsi Church, for the exquisite and meticulous planning to ensure the solemnity of the occasion.

The celebration was significant as it was for the first time that Perpetual professions were held in the region of Karnataka. The lay Faithful were enthusiastic about every detail considering the fact that the three salesians belong to the Karnataka region.
A simple felicitation function in the school hall followed the Eucharistic celebration, after which Lunch was served to all the invited guests.

Fr. Figueiredo, the Provincial, expressed the sentiments and wishes of the entire province for these three young Salesians when he said, ''We pray that empowered by the Holy Spirit and through the intercession of Mary the Help of Christians, our perpetually professed clerics will grow day by day into the image of the Good Shepherd so that, like Jesus, they may be filled with compassion for the young, and work, in communion with their brothers and lay collaborators, to lead their people on the path of Christian holiness.''
