Panjim, Feb. 22. The Provincial Chapter 2013 of Konkan Province came to an end on 22 February, thus bringing to a close a long thought process of reflection, animation, discussion, and formulation within the Province that was markedly participatory. The third theme on 'Servants of the Young' was discussed in much detail yet again, with a concentrated effort to understand how we can be more effective in our apostolate. Ample time was spent on drawing up concrete lines of action at the individual, community and province level.

The day began with a prayer moment followed by the election of the delegate and his substitute for GC27. The conscientiously conducted election came to an unanimous decision electing Fr. Avil RODRIGUES, Incharge of Oros, as the Delegate, and Fr. Jose Sequeira, Executive Director of KDS, as substitute for the forthcoming General Chapter in Rome.

Considering that the Youth Ministry would be a focus of the Province along with Lay Collaboration (theme 05),  the chapter spent considerable amount of time in the first Session in reflecting and drawing out of lines of action with regard to this subject.

It was decided that the lay collaboration commission's propositions on initiating the process of forming the EPC, training of Salesians with regard to it, and focusing on a few communities where there is a possibility to form such groups would be taken seriously.

The latter half of the morning consisted of going through the lines of actions and voting upon each of the lines of action of the various dimensions of youth ministry, both at the local and Province levels.

It was encouraging to sense the involvement and interest in each plan and line of action concerning the various activities of the province.

The voting and the discussions were held in a climate of seriousness and at times it seemed that the chapter members were in no hurry to wind up. The Chapter in fact did end up  behind the scheduled time. The closing event was a concelebrated Eucharist marking the end of yet another phase in the life of this growing province, its third Provincial Chapter.
