Panjim, Dec. 18. Human Rights Day was celebrated with much enthusiasm on 10th Dec 2012, making all the students of Don Bosco Academy, Sutgatti aware of their rights.
The management and staff of Don Bosco Academy decided to celebrate this day by kindling the spark of awareness in each child in the school about their rights as children and human rights as a whole. The institution was privileged to have with them for the celebration the Provincial of Panjim province, Fr. Ian Figueiredo, Fr. Rector Leandro Gracias the principal of DBA, and vice Principal Fr. Kimrold D'Mello, the Vice Rector Fr. Francis Xavier and the staff of DBA & DB CTD.

The programme began with a slide show presentation by Sir. Farroq explaining the various rights and benefits every child should enjoy up to the age of 18 years. This presentation set the tone for the whole day's programme.

Thereafter various speeches and skits were presentated by the students in which they portrayed the lives of the great freedom fighters and nation builders, and their achievements in uprooting blind beliefs and corruption.

The children of Tangudama presented a magnificent skit on equality in religion, which stole a beat from everyone's heart. A family situation was presented before the students, where in due to the negligence of the parents children are deprived of chance to pursue their studies and thus their rights are violated.

The members of the various Houses of the school had prepared and displayed charts which gave us visual information about human rights. The best of these creative works of each house were rewarded points.

At the end Rev Fr. Provincial addressed the gathering and   appreciated everyone for all the efforts they had put in to make the human rights day a success. In his message he stressed on dealing with the children who are less privileged and therefore really in need of our service than the privileged ones.  He also urged the students to make maximum use of what is available to them by way of their rights.

The whole programme enlightened the minds and hearts of the students of the school and made them aware of who they are and what rights are due to them.
