Konkan Province Celebrates Provincial Chapter 2013 - Second Session By Fr. Francis XavierPanjim, Dec. 10. The second session of the Provincial Chapter 2013 was successfully held at Don Bosco Agro-Ed Complex, Sulcorna from the 27th November 2012 noon to 29th November 2012. Thirty members together with the Moderator Fr. Paul D'Souza and Fr. Ian Figueiredo as its President participated in the third Provincial Chapter of the Province of Panjim.
Invoking the Lord's name the members of the first commission, Mystics in the Spirit helped the chapter members to get into the right mood by creating the ambience for a serious reflection on the theme ''Witnesses to the Radical Approach of the Gospel''.
The day's work began with the role call by the secretary, Fr. Clive Telles which was followed by the reading of the minutes. After a some corrections the minutes was unanimously passed. The moderator than explained the scheme for the day and the time table was approved.
In the morning session the first commission presented their report and findings based on a questionnaire that was conducted on their theme, Mystics in the Spirit. Issues such as personal prayer and participating in the common practises of piety was discussed.
The President, Fr. Ian than shared with the chapter member of praying with a difference. He told the members of his experience at his brother's house warming ceremony of how the gathered group participated in a praise and worship session and prayed the Word of God in a very spiritual manner.
In the afternoon session the second commission presented their findings and a open minded decision was held ably animated by the moderator, Fr. Paul. The decision centered around the idea of being the signs and bearers of God's love in everything we as Salesians are called to do. The first day ended with a prayerful adoration after an animated rosary based on the scriptures. This was followed by a warm welcome dinner by the community of Don Bosco Sulcorna.
On the second day the third and the fourth commission presented their findings in a document. Since the document needed to cover a wider range of participants and the research was not whole the chapter voted to extend the time for a more satisfying study as the topic demanded.
On the third day, the fifth commission presented its findings on the topic of lay collaboration in our works. The decision that followed centered on the idea of involving the lay in our works, a finding that was unanimous among the perpetually professed as well as those in initial formation. Each of us are called in a special way to respond to the call of God in our lives and by the very gift of our Baptism we participate in the mission of the Church in our own setting, was the emphasis of the document.
The day ended with the remarks of the president who called on the members of the chapter to cast our deep into our lives and harking the call of Our Saviour and Lord by radically living out the gospel in our day to day lives.
The third session ended with a prayerful adoration animated by the members of the fifth commission at 8 pm. The third and the final session was decided to be held in the month of February 2013.
The first session of the Provincial Chapter was held earlier on 14 September 2012 at the Provincial House in Odxel, Goa.
