CHRISTMAS CELEBRATIONS AT DON BOSCO SUTGATTI By Jason PintoPanjim, Dec. 25. The birth of Christ heralds a new beginning and a new hope to those in darkness. His birth is nothing but a manifestation of God's infinite love for all mankind said Fr. Leandro Gracias rector of Don Bosco Academy as he declared the Christmas celebrations open with the Boarders on the evening of 22 December.
This was followed by a series of programmes at Don Bosco Sutgatti from 22nd to 25th December 2011. The main theme was making a new beginning and enkindling a new hope in the light of God's unconditional love and hope for all mankind.
The boarders of Sutgatti on the evening of 22 December under the able guidance of the prefect Fr. Kim organized, Clerics Jason and Milton organized a chain of different activities coupled with Carol singing and the Christmas quiz. The boarders were given an opportunity to sing, dance, play, draw and rack their brains with the different types of quiz games which formed part of the Christmas evening. The main highlight of this evening was the visit of Santa Claus who bestowed them with gifts and sweets. There was a spirit of enthusiasm and competitiveness seen among them. The winners of the Christmas evening were rewarded with the mouth watering chocolate cream cake and the snow-white cream cake.
On 23 December the school celebrated the birth of Our Lord Jesus with the same tenor of joy and enthusiasm. The combined participation of the School children, the NOS, the DB Tech MoRD and the tiny dots of the Don Bosco Chinnara Tangudham gave a whole new meaning of celebrating Christmas cutting across boarders of age and background. Carol singing and the Tableau were the main competitions of the day which was followed by a number of party games and sharing of Christmas sweets prepared by the students together with their teachers. The programme concluded with the visit of Santa Claus and his tiny little elf announcing his arrival all over.
A special party was organized for the children of the Don Bosco Chinnara Tangudham and the Sutgatti village. Around 70 children participated in celebrating the joyous occasion of Christmas. One of the most remarkable event was to see the children spontaneously coming up on the stage to display their talents as an adoration to baby Jesus. In his Christmas message Br. Milton appealed to the children to be always generous and caring towards others for this is what Christmas is all about.
It was a wonderful and an enriching experience to be part of such a delightful and exciting series of Christmas celebrations with children.
