YaR DAY CELEBRATED AT
DON BOSCO SUTGATTI - HUBLI
On 21st November 2011, the students of Don Bosco Academy, Sutgatti - Hubli celebrated YaR day on the occasion of the International Children's Day (20th Nov.).
During the morning School Assembly the state school students put up a value based skit - 'Know your Rights'. This skit highlighted the various rights of children which are enshrined in our Constitution. The important ones among them being the right to education, right to livelihood and right against protection from exploitation.
Every year on 14th November we in India celebrate Children's Day in honour of the birth anniversary of our first Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. 'Chacha Nehru' as he was fondly called loved children and regarded them to be the future of our country. So also at the international level the United Nations has declared 20th November as 'International Children's Day'. This day invites us to reflect on those children who are less fortunate, deprived, differently abled, those victims of Child Labour and Child Trafficking etc.
In his Good Morning Talk Fr. Leandro Gracias the Principal spoke to the students about the plight of those children in our own country who are denied of their basic rights as children. He spoke about those children who work in stone quarries, in hotels, factories making crackers, etc. He also urged the students to make use of the rights that they have been privileged with, especially the right to education.
At the end of the assembly Fr. Kimrold, the Vice-Principal spoke on the importance of the YaR day and its works.
