Tirupattur MSW Students Trained as Scouts and Guides Leaders

Bangalore, Mar. 15. A seven-day Scouts and Guides Adult Leadership Training for the students of Master of Social Work at the Sacred Heart College, Tirupattur, was flagged off on March 4, 2021. The future social workers were empowered to be committed leaders in society.
Guide others to happiness, and you will bring joy to yourself, and doing this, you will be doing what God wants of you, was once told by Lord Baden Powell to Scouts and Guides. Motivated by Powell, Fr Joseph Andrew Raja, HoD, PG & Research Department of Social Work, Sacred Heart College, Tirupattur organized the leadership training. Fr Raja was supported and assisted by Dr Fr Thomas, the District Chief Commissioner of Don Bosco District, Bharat Scouts and Guides, Tamil Nadu.

The camp had 23 Rangers, 21 Rovers, 29 Scouts and 25 Guides. The training focused on Pioneering, Philosophy of Scouting, Mapping, Handicraft, Drill and First Aid. Tips for a healthy life and preparation for married life, future career, a good and balanced citizen and a leader were the highlight of the training programme.

The training culminated with the valedictory function on March 10, 2021, held in the open-air camp. Dr Fr John Alex, Rector and Secretary of Sacred Heart College, Tirupattur, presided over and gave away the prizes and the certificates for the Ranger and Rover Adult trainers, Guide Captains and Scout Masters. Fr John Santhosh, Rector of DB College, Yelagiri, distributed the mementoes.
