Bangalore, Nov. 25. Kristu Jyoti Publications in Bangalore released two books related to Salesian Spirituality on 22 November 2013 at Don Bosco Provincial House, Bangalore: ''Witnesses of the Living God'' by Fr. Pascual Chavez, Rector Major of the Congregation, and ''St. John Bosco: Teachings on Spiritual Life'', an Anthology by Fr. Aldo Giraudo (Translated from Italian by Fr. Julian Fox).
The books were released by Fr. Maria Arokiam Kanaga, the Regional Councillor for South Asia, in the presence of Fr. Jose Kuttianimattathil, Publication Manager, Fr. Thomas Anchukandam, Provincial of Bangalore Province, and all the Rectors and Parish Priests of the Province of Bangalore. These publications come at a very opportune time as the Congregation is set to launch the Strenna for the year 2014 focussing on the spirituality of Don Bosco.
The Aanthology by Fr. Giraudo on Don Bosco's teachings on spiritual life is a collection of works and stories on Don Bosco's spirituality. The book has four parts: 1) Don Bosco as a spiritual guide for the young 2) Indications for a consistent, active Christian life 3) Consecrated to God for his glory and the salvation of the young, and 4) a Father's final recommendations and a founder's concerns. Fr. Aldo Giraudo has penned also a commendable introduction to the book.
The other book, ''Witnesses of the Living God'' by Fr. Pascual Chavez examines the nature and future of consecrated life from a Salesian perspective. In this book Fr. Chavez, who is the Rector Major of the Salesian Congregation for a second term, tries to spell out the unique identity of the consecrated persons in the world of today.''In preparation for the bi-centenary of the birth of Don Bosco, especially in this year focussing on Spirituality of Don Bosco, these books are ideal resources for every Salesian community in India'', said the Publisher, Fr. Jose Kuttianimattathil, on the occasion of the release.
