''Children Forces Labour Department to enforce laws regarding Child Labour''

By Sonychen SDB
Bangalore, Dec. 17. The Deputy Commissioner and other child labour laws enforcement authorities were forced to issue notice to rescue children working in ''Seed Crossing'' sector and take action against the employers. On 20th November children submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner of Davangere urging him to act on the above matter.
As it was reported earlier DBCLM organized YaR day on 20th of November 2010 by a Signature Campaign by 1500 children urging the Deputy Commissioner and other child labour laws enforcement authorities to rescue children working in ''Seed Crossing'' sector and take action against the employers. On 20th November children submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner of Davangere urging him to act on the above matter.
And on 13th of December the District Labour Officer and four labour inspectors visited the 2 farms where children are employed for ''Seed Crossing''. They rescued 2 children and filed cases against the employers under The Child Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act 1986. The children were readmitted to the nearby Government School after motivating the parents and children. Thus the child to child campaign by children on YaR Day forced the Labour Department to act. The farm was situated about 40km from Davangere and it was the first time that the Labour Department of Davangere went so far to rescue child labourers.
