Polar ice caps, the ozone layer, the great garbage patch, greenhouse effects, and carbon footprints are some of the issues keeping world leaders at the United Nations in a huddle in their bid to protect the planet from an environmental catastrophe.
At a more macro level, efforts are underway to spark a green revolution. In the forefront of this green movement in India are the Salesians of Don Bosco. On September 15, marked as the World Clean Up Day, citizens from around the world and India, in particular, joined forces to combat the problem of solid waste which included marine debris, mismanaged solid waste such as litter and illegal dumpsites, along with it's associated environmental and social problems.

New Delhi- The Catholic Church in India is reviewing and updating its ''Teaching Policy'', elaborated in its guidelines in 2007, in order to offer an increasingly better qualified service and an ever-increasing commitment in the field of education in the country, considered a precious instrument of evangelization: this is what Salesian Father Joseph Manipadam, National Secretary of the Office for Education and Culture, within the Indian Bishops Conference (CBCI) says in an interview with Agenzia Fides.

: Don Bosco Media Network (DBMN) conducted a training programme for 14 Bosco Information Service (BIS) correspondents to write for the province's newsletter and for the updating of the Province website. The course was conducted at the Don Bosco Provincial House, Mathias Institute Mawlai, Shillong. The training provides critical training in new media, citizen journalism and empowerment to bring positive changes around the Salesian Institutions.
