On Friday May 10, 2013, five hundred members of the Konkani Community gathered together for a presentation on Small Christian Communities (SCCs). This was the first in a series of faith-related discourses planned by the community in this Year of Faith. With the recent launch of SCCs in St Therese of the Child Jesus Parish in the Northern Arabian Vicariate,the community felt the need to empower itself with more information on SCCs so that they could join or set-up SCCs in their own neighbourhoods. . Fr. Jacob Champanil, SDB Laid to Rest at Bandel Basilica

The Salesian Province of Kolkata bid a tearful farewell to Fr. Jacob Champanil SDB as his mortal remains were laid to rest at the Salesian cemetery at Basilica at 2.00 PM, on May 11, 2013. The Holy Eucharist was celebrated by Rt. Rev. Joseph Gomes, SDB the Bishop of Krishnagar with around 100 concelebrants. A large number of faithful including Salesian Family members, other Religious, parishioners and boarding children were present at the funeral. His close relatives participated in the ceremonies with inexplicable bereavement and sorrow. His nephew Fr. Francis Thonippara CMI, Church History Professor at Dharmaram College, Bangalore was present.. Read More

Students Ms.Meghamala and Raja Jerubabel of Lutheran School Rajahmundry and Ms.Chandini for NKE English Medium School, Rajahmundry stood tall among a host of government schools teachers as they described how their Human Rights Education classes had given them the knowledge, skill and attitude and the opportunity to take on human rights violations around them. Their narratives were the most inspirational part of the Inaugural two day residential Training Programme for government teachers on the formation of Human Rights.
