Fr Klement Vaclav, Councillor for Missions visits Dimapur Missions |

Fr. Klement Vaclav, Councillor for the Missions visited the Province of Dimapur from November 16-21, 2011. His focus was the Arunachal Missions, since in his earlier visit it was not materialized. On his arrival, 16 November, he was first taken to Don Bosco School, Borduria, where he was accorded a warm welcome by the boarding children, co-operators and the parishioners. Early in the morning of 17 November, Fr. Joseph Thottappallil, drove Fr. Vaclav and those accompanying him viz., Fr. Jose Pallely, Fr. Mathew Tharakan and Fr. Anto Tharakan to Ottongkhowa, where a school is under construction. Though the road seemed rough, wild and dusty, they were gladdened by the smiling welcome they received from the children as well as the people. After the Breakfast and a little felicitation, the visitor had a look at the construction going on. St. Thomas Parish, Sadiya, one of the first parishes among the Misings, celebrated the Silver Jubilee of its establishment on 22 - 23 October with over 1000 faithful gathered for the celebration. The Misings, once known as 'Miris', the second largest tribe in Assam, are of Mongoloid origin.
