On Friday 20 March 2015, Fr. Bosco Augustine SDB became the first Salesian from Chennai province to obtain a doctorate in Dogmatic Theology from the Salesian Pontifical University, Rome. In the fully packed Anna Morolla Hall of the University, listening to Fr. Bosco's brilliant defence of his thesis were eminent guests such as Fr. Ivo Coelho, Councillor General for Formation, Fr. Stanislaus Swamikannu, former Provincial of Chennai, and Fr. Eugenio Riva, Superior of the Vice Province of UPS, Rome.

14 Salesians ordained Deacons in Chennai |

In a solemn two-hour-long ceremony, 14 Salesian students of theology from Becchi Don Bosco, Kavarapettai, were ordained deacons by Archbishop George Antonysamy D.D. of Madras-Mylapore, on 18 March at Don Bosco Shrine, Ayanavaram, Chennai, in the presence of a large gathering of people, which included the parents and dear ones of the ordained. Of the 14 new deacons 5 belong to the Province of Chennai, 6 to Tiruchy, 2 to Hyderabad and 1 to the Province of the Middle East.. Read More »

Over 300 get jobs at DB Bicentenary Job Fair in Chennai |

A whopping 324 young men and women received on-the-spot job offer letters while 400 others were shortlisted by 35 reputed companies on 14 March 2015 at the Don Bosco Job Fair and Technical Expo held in the campus of SIGA Polytechnic and the adjoining DB College of Art and Design (DBCAD) in Chennai. The day-long event was organized by DB Vazhikatti, the Career Guidance and Job Placement Cell of the Salesian Province of Chennai, with the collaboration of the Technical Sector of the Provincial Youth Pastoral team. With deep sense of sorrow, the Salesian Province of Chennai announces the passing away of our dear confrere Fr. Joseph Neendicherry, better known as Fr. N. A. Joseph, at 5.30 a.m. on 22 February at Lourdes Shrine parish, Perambur, Chennai. He was just a month short of 84 years, in the Diamond Jubilee year of his religious profession and Golden Jubilee year of his priestly ordination. The funeral services will be held at Lourdes Shrine, Perambur, on Monday 23 February at 9.30 A.M.

Fr. Amalraj Cappel SDB of the Salesian Province of Chennai passed away in the early hours of 7th November at Adamangalam, near Vellore, in Tamil Nadu. He was 63 years old. In an awesome display of youthful talents, some 500 boys and girls from twenty different Don Bosco institutions in Chennai province vied with each other at the Don Bosco Mega Talent Show, edition 2, held at the Don Bosco Auditorium, Egmore, on 25 October 2014. This annual show was launched last year in view of the bicentenary of Don Bosco's birth to offer a platform to talented youngsters, especially those from rural areas, to showcase their talents and possibly capture the attention of mainstream media.

It has been a year of golden harvest for Don Bosco College, Dharmapuri, Tamilnadu. At the Periyar University exams held in May 2014 the college secured three first ranks and gold medals. M.
