It has been a year of golden harvest for Don Bosco College, Dharmapuri, Tamilnadu. At the Periyar University exams held in May 2014 the college secured three first ranks and gold medals. M. Chennai Province Inaugurates Bicentenary of Don Bosco's birth

The bicentenary celebrations of Don Bosco's birth was launched in Chennai Province on 14 August 2014 with a solemn Holy Eucharist at the Sacred Heart College auditorium, Tirupattur, cradle of the Salesians in South India, in the presence of Salesians, members of the Salesian Family, other religious congregations and young people. Bishop Soundararaju Perianayagam SDB of Vellore presided over the Eucharist along with Bp. Lawrence Pius of Dharmapuri and Bp. Needhinathan of Chenglepet. Fr. In a striking gesture of solidarity Don Bosco Matriculation School and Don Bosco School of Excellence, Egmore donated Rs.25 Lakhs to the school children of St. Joseph High School, Pavunjur in Kancheepuram District of Tamil Nadu. The fund, collected from the Charity Dance show DOBODA Season-3, held in January 2014, will be utilized to give scholarships, to build classrooms and laboratories to upgrade the rural school to Higher Secondary status. . A training programme on 'Rights-based Approach to Social Work' was held on 27-28 November for the social work coordinators of the various religious congregations and provinces of Tamilnadu-Pondicherry region of the CRI at the Salesian Provincial House, Chennai. The Salesian Province of Chennai celebrated its first ever Provincial Missionary Day by bringing together missionaries, aspiring missionaries and members of missionary groups from various houses - in all about 190 persons under one roof at Don Bosco Boys' Home, Perambur, on Sunday 24th November. Fr. Rajkumar Fernando and Fr. John Louis Mariapragasam of the Province of Chennai left for Canada on 15 September to take up ministry in the archdiocese of Edmonton. They will be part of the Salesian Province of the United States - East (SUE), as Salesian presences in Canada come under the jurisdiction of SUE. It was in response to the request of the Rector Major that the province of Chennai (INM) accepted to help out the Salesian presences in Edmonton, which is badly in need of priests. Fr. Rajkumar will be placed at St. Andrews Parish in Edmonton and Fr. John Louis at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Sherwood Park.. Read More

A three-hour programme of animation on Don Bosco's Spirituality marked the launching of the third year in preparation for the bicentenary of Don Bosco's birth by the Salesian Family in Chennai, at St. Mary's Co-Cathedral on 17 August. Salesian Family members of Chennai took part in the event in large numbers. The resource persons for the day were Fr. Jayapalan Raphael, provincial of Chennai, Fr. Andrew Wong, Regional Councillor of East Asia-Oceania and currently Extraordinary Visitor of Chennai Province, Fr. Anthonyraj Chinnappan, vice-provincial of Chennai, and Fr. Lourdusamy Arockiadoss..
