Shillong, June 09: The pilgrim relic of St. John Bosco, the saint of youth, is on an ''aswamedha'' all over the Diocese of Jowai. Beginning its journey from Shillong at 06.00 am on 09th June 2011, the convoy entered the diocese of Jowai, around 7.00 am. There was a big reception for Don Bosco at UMMULONG. The cortege of Don Bosco's relic could not proceed because of the crowd and had to stop at the tri junction in order to give the people to have a chance glimpse at the sacred relic of the saint, the father and friend of youth. The Christian community at Ummulong has a very strong presence. Began right from 1926 by Don Dominic Farina SDB. They remain very much attached to the Salesians and Don Bosco even today.. Read More

The Mizo people have a special love for Don Bosco. Today, (June 11, 2011) as the pilgrim casket containing the relic of Don Bosco entered the check Gate of Mizoram at Vairengte, the people vied with one another to have a little time alone with Don Bosco. The St. Lawrence Church premises danced with the people to welcome Don Bosco. Fr. Balthasar, the Parish priest, said ''Don Bosco is fulfilling his dream by coming over to St. Henry's School to visit his daughters working here''. The FMAs have been working in the parish since 2003. Jowai, June 9: It is said, 'to a friends home, the road is never long'. The venerated relic of St. John Bosco left Shillong for the Jaintia hills today and reached Mawkyndeng, Raliang at 11 this morning. Bidding farewell to their father and founder the nuns of Auxilium convent, Nongthymmai gathered around the relic once more with gratitude before their loving father. Jowai, June 9: Meghalaya is a state of uncertain weather where a bright sunny day can turn into showers all of a sudden. It was drizzling almost the whole day when the casket of Don Bosco reached Mawkyndeng, Raliang. AGARTALA - Tripura could be the only state in the entire northeast India honouring Don Bosco with a lasting memory by erecting his statue to commemorate the DB Relic visit, 14 to 16 June. A 7 feet statue of Don Bosco is to be unveiled by Shri Jitendra Choudhury, Minister for Rural Development, Forest, Industry & Commerce, Govt. of Tripura at Bankumari Junction on the main road adjacent to Don Bosco and Auxilium schools. Raliang, June 10: The non-Christians of Raliang locality too were excited to be part of the pilgrimage. Like the Catholics they came to pay their respects to the sacred urn of St. John Bosco in good numbers. Sr. Agatha Shadap fma and Sr. Mercyful Nongsiej fma both share the same view about the people, saying that the indigenous people were eager to know more about the entire event. Fr. Edmund Lakra sdb, assistant Parish Priest at Mawkyndeng told that the local leaders, political and non-political, donated and helped in organizing the event.
