AGARTALA - Tripura can boast of being the first state in India to honour Don Bosco during his relic pilgrimage with the installation of a statue. The 7 feet statue of Don Bosco flanked by two young people is set on a 9 feet pedestal. Agartala, 14th June, 2011: The Pilgrim relic of Don Bosco was welcomed with all traditional joy and gaiety by the oldest Christian community in Northeast India, at Mariamnagar. The whole township turned up for the historic visit of a saint to their community. Dances, floral tributes and accompaniment of' VIVA DON BOSCO' chorus filled the air. A past pupil and an admirer of Don Bosco, Fr. Thomas Arathingal the Parish Priest of the area, was so happy to prepare his people for this solemn encounter. The thrill of the people, having a living saint face to face, is something even a casual observer can notice. The crowds that throng the relic of Don Bosco speak volumes in his favour, and in favour of his Sons and Daughters who have brought the light of the Gospel and the light of education into the life and faith of the people of the region. Silchar, June 13, 2011: The pilgrimage of the relic of Don Bosco, the friend of youth, began in Barak valley with the procession with school children and parents and faithful, attired in beautiful costumes and traditional dresses, in eight Buses beautifully decorated with banners and flowers adorned to welcome the greatest of all dignitaries, with three floats tastefully arranged and decorated with angels and all giving a festive and religious atmosphere, from the Diocesan administrative head quarters at Silchar to Don Bosco School, Ramnagar. The parents and guardians of all the children in unison singing bhajans and hymns in honour of Don Bosco, the great educator, awoke the slumbering city to the awareness of the arrival of the educator of youth, to mould and shape and give an all round education for the youth of Silchar. . Agartala, June 14: The Agartala chapter of the worldwide pilgrimage tour of the sacred Urn of St. John Bosco is turning out to be a touching phenomenon in Tripura. A school girl, Raheli Kallam, student of Holy Cross School at Panisagar wept tenderly in front of the relic of the venerable saint. The young girl is totally disheartened as her father left them due to some differences in the family. She felt insecure and depressed, stated Fr. Paul C.R, the Principal of the school. The inconsolable girl was brought before the casket relic of the saint to seek inspiration from the 'Father' who loved and comforted the young wholeheartedly. Altogether, 66 presidents and secretaries of ''Young Misings'' (YM), gathered at Life Plus, Jorhat, from 7 - 10 June 2011, for their annual meeting. Fr. Thomas Kalapurackal, Director of the Institution for Culture And Rural Development (I-CARD) presided over the inaugural session. Sir Nava Doley welcomed the participants, and helped organize the youth for discussions and other activities. In his introduction, K.A. Thomas SDB challenged the young people to ask themselves such questions as: ''For whom do you raise your hand? What do you speak up for? Whom do you stand up for?''
