Chennai, Mar. 23. A great day of jubilation for the Province of Chennai as seven clerics of Chennai Province, four clerics of Tiruchy Province and two Josephites clerics were ordained as Deacons by the Archbishop of Madras-Mylapore, Most Rev Dr George Antonysamy, with Rt Rev Dr Jeromedhas Varuvel SDB, Bishop Emeritus of Kuzhithurai and former Novice Master, Father KM Jose SDB, Provincial of Chennai Province, Father Agilan Sarprasadam SDB, Provincial of Tiruchy and Father Bellarmine Fernando, Rector of Don Bosco Theological Centre, at St. Mary's Co-Cathedral, Chennai, on the solemnity of St. Joseph, March 19, 2022.
In his homily, Archbishop Antonysamy highlighted the quality of a deacon who needs to constantly embrace the up-dimension with God, the in-dimension with the community and the out-dimension with the people that would help him to belong to God.

The day was also made memorable with the release of three books written and edited by Don Bosco Theological Centre. The first book, a Don Bosco Theological Series, titled ''Spirituality and Religion: Estranged Mother and Daughter? Current Theological Readings'', contains nine enriching research articles written by the professors and visiting faculty and edited by Father Suresh Felix, professor, Don Bosco Theological Centre, Kavarapettai. The second book in Tamil, ''Jesus Changes the Society'', is a compilation of research articles by the first-year students of the Theological Centre and another book, a tri-annual magazine, ''Path and the Journey'', written by the students Kavarapettai.
