Kolkata, Mar. 7. In a post-Covid outreach programme to connect with the local community, Radio Salesian journalists reached one of the far-flung tea gardens in Mirik Sub-Division, Murmah Tea Estate. Radio Salesian RJ team Wang, Garima, Bandana and Pratap with Senior RJs Moses, Rejina and Programme Co-ordinator RJ Samir visited Murmah Tea Estate on March 5, 2022.
The RJ team interacted with children, youth, middle-aged people and senior citizens of Murmah Tea Estate and gained positive responses for Radio Salesian. A regular listener and caller, Laxmi Pradhan of Murmah, expressed her happiness and love for Radio Salesian. The estate community also gave feedback on the shows for further improvements. RJ Samir proposed the concept of Radio Club and its benefits and other features to which the residents responded positively. The visit provided the opportunity to make nine shows to air in the coming days. The Radio Salesian 90.8 FM, The Voice of the Hills, from 2016 by Salesian College Sonada, is the first Nepali language broadcasting community radio in India.
