Hyderabad, Jun. 24. The Salesian Province of Hyderabad joined the celebrations of the 150th anniversary of the founding of the Past Pupils across the world by hosting an online meet of the nine Don Bosco Past Pupils Units of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and South Odisha on June 24, 2020. Father Thathireddy Vijaya Bhaskar, Provincial, Father Garlapati Michael Kishore, Delegate of the Past Pupils and Mr Prasad, President of State Federation, convened the virtual meet and the celebrations.
The president of every unit briefly presented the activities of the Units, especially the various interventions at these pandemic times such as emergency ambulance in Mangalagiri, scholarship facility for economically backward students in Patsala Tadaiparru and livelihood aid in Ravulapalem. They appreciated the works of the Salesians and expressed their willingness to be ambassadors of the charism of Don Bosco.

Marking the celebrations, the Past Pupils Federation welcomed the idea of adopting 15 orphaned children who lost their parents due to the Covid-19 pandemic and decided to help secure their future. It also scheduled to ensure that all children who have lost both parents, the surviving parent, legal guardians or adoptive parents to Covid-19 could receive financial assistance under the PM-CARES for Children's Scheme during the second wave of the pandemic.

During the virtual meet, Father Provincial recalled the origins of Past Pupils of Don Bosco. He said, ''In 1870, Carlo Gastini and his fellow past pupils of Valdocco came to Don Bosco to congratulate him on his feast day on June 24. Instantly, Don Bosco invited them to stay with him as a part of the Salesian Family''. He also said that the prime responsibility of the Past Pupils is to take care of their own families while living out the values of family life.

Father Kishore expressed that one could see and live the dreams of Don Bosco for his Past Pupils even after 150 years. He wished that this important day and the Jubilee year of Past Pupils will enrich the Salesian Family and every life of Past Pupils and Friends of Don Bosco. Mr Pamisetty Balaswamy, the secretary of the State Federation, thanked everyone who made the virtual celebrations come alive. Mr Balashowry from Guntur Past Pupils Unit presented the printed cups. With the cutting of the cake and a solemn blessing by Father Provincial, concluded the virtual celebration.
