New Delhi, Apr. 16. The first batch of trainees in the Data Centre Operations Management Course formally graduated on April 11, 2021, at Don Bosco Skill Mission, Bangalore. Father Biju Michael, Regional Counsellor for South Asia, presided over the programme. The 23 graduates hailing from the Indian States of Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Kerala expressed great satisfaction at the training and the homely stay at Don Bosco Skill Mission.
Speaking at the occasion, Father Biju encouraged the young people to ensure that they always remain 'employable' by continuing to acquire skills as they take up jobs in the industry. On behalf of the funding partner, STTelemedia Global Data Centre, Shankar Munisamy, Associate Director, informed the group about how the idea of partnership evolved and how surprised and proud he was to see the quality of the students with the training at Don Bosco Skill Mission. Father George Mathew, Executive Director of Don Bosco Tech, re-affirmed the commitment of Don Bosco Tech to skilling the needy youth for the requirements of industry such as Data Centres.

The Data Centre is a fast-growing industry in India. The need for trained hands at all levels led to discussions between   STTelemedia Global Data Centres (STT GDC) and Don Bosco Tech to skill the young people as maintenance technicians and engineers at Data centres. With funding support from STT GDC, Don Bosco Tech prepared the content and curriculum, and the STT GDC team offered to train 23 candidates over the last four months.

With the quality training and exposure visits to the live Data Centre of STT GDC in Bangalore, the students are ready for the industry. The crowning moment is that all the students have an opportunity to be certified by the international organization, Enterprise Products Integration Pvt Ltd (EPI), based in Singapore. The online assessment offers Data Centre Foundation Certificate (DCFC).

The support, guidance and direction by Father Joseph Elavanal, Director of Don Bosco Skill Mission, Bangalore, and the national office and trainers at DBSM have led to the successful completion of the training programme. The trained and certified candidates look forward to the interviews lined up in the coming days for employment in Data Centres at the earliest. Don Bosco Tech is confident of replicating and expanding the opportunity for the needy youth to provide skill and livelihood through such training.
