Hyderabad, Aug. 27. As the major misfortune of the disastrous COVDI-19 outbreak impacted lives and slowed down economic sustenance, Don Bosco Navajeevan [DBNJ] through its college girls carried out a research and came out with a blueprint to address this issue. Hands-on training in bakery and sweets-making were introduced to the resident inmates, to help them overcome the sudden onslaught of a locked-down lifestyle. This resulted in the 'Chiguru Sweets Wagon for Sustainable Development.
Children were very enthusiastic and interested in learning the new skill. A month of training with minimum investment on equipment and skill-set, the children started to throw the idea to market their products as they were impressed by their own tasty creations. Innovative participatory mechanisms created new paths in development and empowerment.

As the obsolete dictum 'Think Global and Act Local' states, the girls hit the market to test their products and show case their talent in a very meager mode by erecting a small canopy. The results brought a big smile on the faces of the girls as their products sold out. As Kassem said, ''A heart without dreams is like a bird without feathers''. DBNJ is facilitating empowerment of girls to help them overcome the COVID-19 misfortune, and survive with a strong will and financial security.
