22 Salesians from 08 Provinces Ordained Deacons

New Delhi, Jul. 2. On 01 July 2020, the Diaconate Ordination of 22 Salesians of Don Bosco belonging to 08 Indian Salesian Povinces (INN 04, INT 01, INK 02, INH 03, INC 03, ING 03, IND 02, INS 04) took place at Sacred Heart Theological College, Shillong. His Lordship Rt. Rev. Victor Lyngdoh, the Bishop of Jowai exhorted the Deacons to serve the Lord and His people with utmost simplicity, humility and gentleness.
The well-planned prayerful service began at 6.30 am at the Shrine of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Mawlai, Shillong. Being sensitive to the COVID-19 situation, the service was attended solely by the members of Sacred Heart College community and by Father Games Thyrniang, the acting provincial of the Salesian Province of Shillong. The bishop highlighted the duties and obligations of a deacon in his well-prepared homily. He exhorted the deacons not pursue name, fame or wealth, instead challenged them to serve the Lord and his people with simplicity, humility and gentleness. He brought his homily to the zenith urging all the deacons to 'punctuate each day with prayer and meditation' being faithful to the Holy Eucharist, breviary, holy Hour, and meditation each day.
