Shillong, Dec. 21. Father Angel  Fernandez Artime, the Rector Major of the Salesians appointed Father Paul Olphindro Lyngkot SDB as the new Provincial of the Salesian Province of Shillong. Father Paul will be installed as the 2nd Provincial of St. John Paul II Province, Shillong on 24th May, 2018
Father Paul Olphindro Lyngkot was born on 28-01-1968 at Mawlai Phudmuri Madanheh, Shillong - India. His parents were Mr. Benedict O. Lyngrah and Mrs. Isidora Lyngkot. Born and brought up in a happy family of 5 brothers and 4 sisters and being the youngest among them, Paul acquired very endearing and pleasant personality traits which enrich his Salesian identity. He made his First Profession on 23- 04-1990, the Perpetual Profession on 24-05-1996 and Ordained Priest on 30-04-2000.

He has his academic qualification B.A. B.Ed and Licentiate in Youth Ministry & Catechetics from UPS (Salesian Pontifical Univeristy, Rome). As a newly ordained priest, Father Paul began his ministry as Assistant Parish Priest at Pyndengrei(Nongstoin). Then he served as Headmaster at St. Anthony's LP School-Shillong, Asistant Director of DB Youth Services Guwahati, Licentiate Student at UPS, Assistant Parish Priest at Livorno (Italy), Director of NERYC (Guwahati) and Rector of Hubert D'Rosario Missionary Aspirantate at Sirajuly (Assam).

In May 2012 at the creation of the new Province of St. John Paul II (Shillong), Father Paul was appointed as the Vice Provincial and reappointed in 2015. It was while he has been carrying out this responsibility with utmost dedication and at the same time serving as the Director of DB Youth Centre, Shillong since 2016.
