College Students on spiritual and emotional renewal

By Bastin Nellissery
Bangalore, Oct. 5. With hands and hearts raised in prayer and praise the students at Don Bosco Institutes of Higher Education, Angadikadvu, Kerala participated in the annual Inner Healing Spiritual Retreat animated by the Sehion Retreat Centre, Attappady. The four-day renewal program from 28 September to 1 October 2016 was attended by 800 Catholic students.
Celebration of the sacrament of Holy Eucharist, deliverance prayers, Eucharistic adoration, and praise and worship sessions echoed in the campus throughout the days. More than 15 priests administered the sacrament of reconciliation. The students were offered spiritual counseling by seasoned and gifted counselors from the Sehion Centre. Intercessory prayers by students, nuns, Salesian cooperators and neighbours accompanied the students and animators throughout the retreat.
Meanwhile, the students of other religious faiths numbering 300, had a four-day Emotional Intelligence Proficiency Workshop, conducted by Blue Print, a Personality Development Training Team from Trivandrum. The workshop centered on Daniel Goleman's bestseller ''Emotional Intelligence'' was aimed at enabling the students to master the art of self-ascendancy and emotional balance.  A mix of theoretical and practical sessions found the students glued to the workshop.
The active presence of the staff and the generosity of the volunteers especially the Jesus Youth Members facilitated the events to the benefit of the participants. The retreat as well as the workshop is expected to leave a lasting imprint on the lives of the students and on the whole campus.
