Young Salesians meet in the province of Guwahati

By Father Bivan R. Mukhim
Guwahati, Sep. 28. On 23rd September, 40 clerics came together at the Provincial House, where they were helped count the blessings and be optimistic, listen to what Pope Francis had to say to 6000 seminarians who assembled in Rome to celebrate the year of faith and got to know the mind of the congregation as regards formation particularly about the need for 'Spiritual Guide' of each confrere and personal formation plan.
The initiative of bringing the young Salesians together is part of an effort of the province to support the communities in imparting initial and continuous formation to the clerics and brothers, both in practical training and in college and university studies.
Input sessions on St. Mother Teresa's sanctity and personal responsibility for formation were taken by Father  Zachary Varickasseril and Father Hubert Uttam. Father Thaddeus Kujur preached the recollection talk. Father Lukose Cheruvalel celebrated the Holy Eucharist.

Speaking on the occasion of the meeting Father Januarius Sangma, Vice Provincial said, "Salesian religious formation, particularly its foundation well-laid at the initial stage has tremendous positive potentiality for the future." He quoted the Rector Major when he said, "Let's help our younger ones to get to the essential: consecration, union with God, witnesses of God ... all what we understand as interior life," he said. "It's an insistence always present in all Rector Majors' ministry, a need common to all of us through the generations," the Vice Provincial added.
